How it works

"I talked to the people at Distinct Cremations. They told me these days many of us don’t want to spend large sums of money on an elaborate funeral."

Distinct Cremations

We offer the highest level of support, but don't take our word for it

Below are a selection of reviews from those who have arranged a funeral with Distinct Cremations.

“I can't recommend Distinct Cremations enough. I felt like my hand was held throughout the entire process. A wonderful team. Look no further than Distinct Cremations, first class! Credit to Grace J and colleagues. Thank you.”

"When you receive news of a loved family member in time of need or passing, the worries of many things arise. Consider contacting Distinct Cremations. My personal experience has been positive, in that their professional support had helped to provide a dignified service & cremation for the family to attend. They explained clearly what was available & when it would be able at the time of contact & positive communication throughout. They were recommended I've chosen to say thank you."

"A first class service that kept you up to date with all the protocols as they came up. Anything you wanted to know you just had to ring up and you was treated with great respect and dignity. I spoke to a lovely lady called Maxine Parkes several times who had as much time as you wanted to and listened to you with a lot of understanding and sympathy. Could not ask for a better service."

"This was our first experience of using a direct cremation service and we weren't sure what to expect. We were guided through the process by our own personal assistant who explained our options. Once we had made a decision on the type of service we wanted she advised us what we needed to do at every step of the way. She kept in regular contact to make sure we were happy and to answer any questions we had. The end-to-end service was very efficient and clearly explained by sensitive staff who were always available to answer any questions. We would highly recommend Distinct Cremations."

“We were very impressed with the service provided by Distinct Cremations from start to finish. All the people who dealt with Dad's cremation were kind and compassionate, particularly Alice who took our initial call, and Stephen who handled things from then on. They kept us informed about developments every step of the way and made us feel welcome to ask if ever we had any queries. The whole process was carried out in a professional yet sympathetic way. Would definitely recommend these people if you are considering a direct cremation for your loved one.”

"At the worst time of our life we needed some support, fortunately when we contacted Distinct Cremations it was clear that we were in safe hands, everyone has been so helpful we would especially like to thank Maxine who has been a shining light throughout the process, many thanks to everyone for their professionalism."

We’ll keep the deceased dressed in the same clothes they were wearing when they entered our care unless otherwise requested. If you’ve got a specific outfit you’d like them to wear, just let us know and provide it prior to the cremation.

A Direct Cremation is a simple cremation without a funeral service and all the additional expenses such as flowers. However, the family can make arrangements for flowers to be delivered to the crematorium directly should they wish.

Our crematoria feature state-of-the-art downloadable music systems, allowing us to play any piece of music you want as long as it's been commercially recorded and released.

We have 40 crematoria spread across England, Scotland and Wales. You can see our full list of crematoria to find your nearest one.

The Doctor’s fees are needed to obtain cremation certificates required to carry out the service. Without them, there can be no cremation.

While we endeavour to cremate the deceased as soon as possible following the service this isn't always possible. However, the cremation is always completed with 24-hours of arrival at the crematorium. Learn more about how long after death is a cremation.

For our Personal Cremation, the services lasts for 20 minutes, where you can have a few moments of quiet reflection and can play a piece of music in honour of the deceased. For an unattended cremation there’s no service held before the cremation takes place.

There are lots of things you can do with the ashes. Many people scatter ashes in a place that was special to the deceased, some keep them in an urn as a keepsake and others have recently started to have ashes turned into jewellery or glass.

Upon arranging a funeral, once you’ve agreed the type of service that you’d like, one of our Customer Service Specialists will take the payment in full, which can be made by credit or debit card.
