When you purchase a 5 or 10 year payment plan from Distinct Cremations, we buy a 'whole of life' policy from Scottish Friendly, one of the UK's leading mutual life organisations who are authorised and regulated by the FCA, meaning your money couldn't be more secure. In the unfortunate case that you die after 12 months of purchasing a plan, the funeral is guaranteed and there will be nothing more to pay.

Plans can be transferred upon request for those who've paid for a plan over 12 months or in one single payment. Unfortunately, we cannot transfer plans paid for by instalments over 5 or 10 years to another person.
For plans payable over 5 or 10 years we incur additional administration expenses for collecting the monthly instalments and for the purchase and administration of a “whole of life” policy with Scottish Friendly. If you die after 12 months of the start of your plan, but before you have paid all your instalments, there is nothing more to pay.
If you are paying for your plan in up to 12 instalments, your personal representatives will need to pay the outstanding amount due.
If you are paying over 5 or 10 years and death occurs after 12 months and your monthly instalments are up to date, no further payment will need to be made.
If you are paying over 5 or 10 years and death occurs within 12 months of the start date of your plan, your personal representatives will need to pay the difference between the amount already paid and the lump sum plan price at the time you took out your plan. If death occurs within 12 months of the start date of the plan as the result of accidental death, no further payment will need to be made.
There are four ways to pay for your plan - as a one-off payment by credit card, debit card or cheque or monthly by direct debit.
Yes, all our funeral plans are safe. For lump sum and instalments up to 12 months, your funds are held securely in the Distinct Funeral Plans Trust. For 5 & 10 year instalment plans we purchase a “whole of life” policy from one of the UK's largest mutual life organisations, Scottish Friendly, to provide your chosen cremation at the time of need.

You need to be over the age of 18 to take out a funeral plan. For 5 & 10 year instalment plans you must be aged between 50 & 74 when you purchase your plan.
