Our cremation plans guarantee your acceptance, with no medical questions or additional costs for the elderly or those with pre-existing medical conditions. However, for cremation plans payable over 5 or 10 years we incur additional administration expenses for collecting the monthly instalments and for the purchase and administration of a “whole of life” policy from Scottish Friendly - an authorised and regulated insurance provider.

You need to be over the age of 18 to take out a funeral plan. For 5 & 10 year instalment plans you must be aged between 50 & 74 when you purchase your funeral plan.

In the unlikely event that Distinct Cremations stops trading, we are required to work closely with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) to transfer your plan to another funeral plan provider or arrange compensation.

Direct cremation includes a respectful cremation but does not include a funeral service with mourners present. We take care of all aspects of our direct cremation services including:

  • Collecting your loved one in our private ambulances
  • Caring for them at our mortuary
  • Supporting you with the paperwork required
  • Arranging the cremation itself at one of our parent-company Westerleigh Group crematoriums
  • Scattering the ashes at the crematorium

Prices to arrange our Direct Cremation for someone who has died start from £1,350. Or if you'd like to pre-plan and pay for a funeral for yourself or someone else ahead of time we also offer our Direct Cremation Plan from just £1,999.

Our direct cremation starts from just £1,350, which is 69%** cheaper than a traditional cremation.

** 69% saving is based on the cost of a basic funeral at £4,285 (SunLife Cost of Dying Report 2025, sunlife.co.uk/ funeral-costs) vs the cost of a Distinct Cremations direct cremation at £1,299.

The cost of a funeral plan can vary widely depending on the type of service you choose, the provider, and the specific options included.

A Distinct Cremation plan offers a more budget-friendly alternative to traditional funeral plans, with complete transparency and no hidden fees. Locking in a plan at today's rates ensures you and your family are safeguarded against future price hikes and inflation.

Our Funeral Service includes a celebrant from our network of service leaders. We will speak to you about your preferences and then find you a celebrant that meets your needs.

You can also choose to use a specific celebrant you already have a connection with. However, if they charge more than the fee we provide for celebrant services, there may be additional fees to pay directly to the celebrant.

A family-led funeral is a funeral service led by the attendees rather than a celebrant or officiant. The funeral service can contain readings given by attendees or a eulogy from someone close to the deceased. Mourners can sit and listen to music in honour of the deceased or simply sit together quietly to reflect on their loved one's life.

I bought plans for myself and my husband three years ago. The company was very professional, helpful and efficient in setting these up. Sadly, my husband died in October. Distinct Cremations have been wonderful. I have dealt with the same person, Kerry, throughout and she has been so kind and caring. She informed me of all the legal processes and then ensured I got exactly the funeral I wanted for my husband. She has been so thoughtful, considerate and professional. I was nervous initially going down the route of a direct cremation as my other relatives have had more traditional funerals. But I needn’t have worried. As soon as I spoke to Kerry I felt reassured. This was perfect for our requirements and just my son and I are going to scatter his ashes later in a small private celebration of his life. I highly recommend Distinct if you are looking for a direct, no fuss, cremation. I believe they’re the best in the business.

I was not sure what to expect from a 'direct cremation' service initially but I am pleased to report that the team at Distinct Cremations could not have been more kind, supportive and respectful. We lost my stepfather and my mother in close succession, both of whom had the same funeral plans with Distinct Cremations and so this review comes from having dealt with different members of the team at different times over the past few months. In all my dealings with Kerry and Sarah nothing was too much trouble, no question felt too silly and the exact procedures were explained clearly and kindly. It was different not having a funeral, but I felt as included as it was possible to be in the circumstances. Also, despite us not being there, we still felt this was a very personal service. I have been to a number of attended cremations where it is obvious that there is a tight timescale, things feel rushed and mourners are queueing up for the next funeral before the last one has left. In this situation we could light a candle and listen to the same piece of music, in our own time, remembering our loved ones in our own way. Thank you to Sarah, Kerry and all the team for your kindness.

Arranging a cremation for oneself is not the easiest of tasks and Tracy was most patient and understanding in her dealings with me. Even though I was pretty certain which plan I wanted Tracy took the trouble to go through the details of the other options as well. I never felt under any pressure to make a decision. In fact, Tracy suggested I mull it over for a few days. I chose the Direct Cremation. This is the kind of end I had wanted for some time and the plan that Distinct Cremations is ideal for me. And, Tracy has arranged that my cremation will be at Westerleigh. This is a crematorium that I am familiar with and it is a comfort to me to know where I will end. I cannot recommend the product or the service more highly

Maxine went above and beyond to help us with all things needed for a beautiful service. We requested some things outside of the norm and she produced everything with class and ease. I am so impressed with how she organized and reorganized the music, provided more than one box for transporting ashes along with the casket for permanent holding.
